"Landcare is a partnership between community and government to carry out environmental protection throughout Australia"

Picture
Most of us have chosen to live or holiday in Rosedale because of its natural beauty.
The aim of our local Rosedale Landcare group is to manage, protect and rehabilitate this area of land & water so that we can share our piece of paradise with the native flora and fauna that have flourished here for so long.

We must be mindful of how we can reduce our impact on the environment & change our behaviours when & where necessary.
Our aim is not to dictate what you must or must not plant in your gardens, but to educate and communicate on subjects such as noxious weed control, soil erosion and rehabilitation, and protection of existing native flora particularly those plants which are rare and/or endangered.

There has been much work done in previous years, mostly led by Gordon Bray. We are determined to try to pick up where he left off and carry on his legacy of keeping Rosedale as it should be - tranquil, natural, brimming with bird life, coloured and scented by native flora and alive with native animal and insects.
Our beaches need to be kept clean and not littered by empty and broken bottles, paper and plastic wrappers and other rubbish.

The area known as Banksia Flat at the southern most end of the main beach, has been recognised as a potential Littoral Rainforest, due to its location and the number of  Littoral Rainforest plant species that are found there.
It is therefore an area that has been the focus of much work mainly done through local council grants, - the main work has
involved weed control. These noxious weeds have escaped from surrounding gardens and grown from seeds that birds have dropped. The risk to this very fragile and special area is enormous.
More information on Littoral Rainforests can be found at: http://www.environment.gov.au/epbc/publications/littoral-rainforest.html

Volunteers needed......
The Rosedale Landcare group are in constant need of more willing volunteers.
This work is ongoing and something that we all need to share in order to keep Rosedale pristine, beautiful and natural and a home & habitat for all our native flora, fauna & fish.
If you are able to assist in any way either by joining our working bees or by donating specifically to our Landcare Fund
we would be most grateful to hear from you.
We usually keep our working bees to about 1½ - 2 hours only.
All enquiries regarding volunteering, donations or activities please contact by email landcare@rosedale.org.au
