FREE garden advice
Emma Patyus from ESC put out a letter to Rosedale residents in 2014 whose property adjoins Banksia Flat (ie Cooks Cres) as follows:

“Many people may not be aware that some plants in their gardens have the potential to ‘jump the garden fence’ and invade local bushland. These plants can spread by wind, birds and water. Other means of dispersal include cuttings
that are dumped in bushland. These plants are known as Environmental Weeds.

Eurobodalla’s bushland is often cared for by local Landcare groups.
Rosedale Landcare has been carrying out weed control works and bush regeneration in the Community Reserves in your area for many years.

To assist the work of this group, and to benefit local bushland, Rosedale residents are being given the opportunity to receive FREE garden advice on how to make their gardens bushland friendly.
This offer also includes the opportunity to exchange environmental weeds from your garden for FIVE FREE native plants.

By replacing environmental weeds with native plants, residents will be gardening sustainably, reducing impacts on local bushland and providing an indigenous food source for native birds.
This offer extends to vacant land and new developments. Absentee owners are encouraged to notify their tenants/rental agencies to participate as well.

This project is being administered by Council with funding from the Australian Government Caring for Country program and will be managed by a part time project officer available on Mondays.

For further information and to utilise this offer of FREE garden advice and FREE native plants contact:-

After all the hard work that has gone into controlling noxious weeds in Banksia Flat and surrounds over recent years, I strongly encourage the “Free”offer of help & garden advice that Emma is advocating being taken up to assist us keeping this rare & critically endangered area – Littoral Rainforest, as something that we can treasure and be proud of.

Future projects...
Future projects will include:
      - Maintaining the already mentioned activities
      - Weeding and replanting small road garden areas at the top end of Cooks Crescent and Tranquil Bay Place.
      - Targeting blackberry and other noxious weeds at the Boatsheds.

If  anyone has areas of concern or suggestions or would like us to arrange some volunteers to assist you in weed control at your place, please feel free to contact any of the following:
