About Us

The Rosedale Association Inc. website is the primary source of information on Rosedale and the surrounding area for all members and visitors to the area.

The RAI committee endeavour to keep you up to date with what is happening in and around Rosedale, and provide useful information about our very special part of the Australian coast. We would love your contributions – please contact us committee@rosedale.org.au with your stories or ideas.

In the early 1970's, rumours were surfacing that a caravan park  and general store may be going to be built within the Rosedale vicinity.

This set off a number of concerns that building of commercial and business  style enterprises, may not accurately represent the wishes of the residents. It was decided that an effective method of discussion and consultation with the local Shire Council and other authorities was needed, or the area's natural appeal could be lost.

A public meeting of Rosedale residents was called and was attended by about 120 people. This was the birth of the Association, with about 90% of Rosedale households becoming members. The original gathering was known as the Rosedale Progress Association.

Over the years, the Association has evolved to become a legally “incorporated” organisation (The Rosedale Association Inc). It has become a more proficient body in which to convey messages to members and take up issues with relevant government and corporate entities, in order to communicate the wishes of the community and maintain and enhance the attractiveness of the hamlet of Rosedale.

In addition to the Annual General Meeting, we also gather and establish community opinion on major issues. These outcomes are conveyed to the Eurobodalla Shire Council, councillors, council officers, and other relevant bodies and organisations with whom the Committee deals. These organisations, and individuals, are also on the RAI newsletter mailing list, so there are no hidden agendas. The intent is to keep Rosedale as an appealing place for all those people, who seek a low-key simple
environment, whether they be house owners, potential purchasers, tenants or visitors, and help to ensure that the Eurobodalla Coast continues to offer a wide choice of holiday and living environments.

Over time, Council has reacted well to the creation of our Association and has become more confident about the authenticity of the Association's representations. This is a reputation that we intend to retain, even if there is occasional difference of
opinion on certain matters.

Our Objectives

The objectives of the Rosedale Association are to:
  • maintain the existing environmental character of the Rosedale area
  • to represent the residents and ratepayers of the Rosedale area who are members of the association, and,
  • in consultation with the Eurobodalla Shire Council and other appropriate bodies and individuals, to assist in the orderly development and progress of the area.
